Care and Maintenance

Maintaining the Beauty of Quartz

Follow these easy steps to keep your surfaces looking and performing their best.

Everyday Care

For spills, immediately wipe the area with a daily cleaner that is safe for Engineered Stone or mild detergent, then rinse off with clean water. A mixture of one (1) part mild detergent to five (5) parts warm tap water (50°C-60°C/122°F-140°F) is ideal for normal cleaning. The surface should be cleaned daily in order to avoid the build-up of dirt and any chance of staining.

After cleaning, rinse your surface with warm water and dry with a soft cotton cloth or paper towel to keep it shining.

Tough Spots and Sticky Situations

For stubborn spills and stains, instead of a mild detergent, apply a mild, non-abrasive household cleaner with a neutral pH (between 6 & 8) to a damp soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge, then rinse thoroughly with clean water.

The following cleansers are recommended for use on your Crescent Quartz surface with dried-on spills:

  • Soft-Scrub® Gel with Bleach
  • Bar Keepers Friend® Soft Cleanser
  • Bar Keepers Friend® Spray and Foam Cleanser
  • Windex® Vinegar Glass Cleaner

If using Bar Keepers Friend® powder, first make a paste by mixing it on a damp cloth before applying.

For food, chewing gum, nail polish, paint or any foreign matter strongly adhered to your Crescent Quartz surface, simply scrape them away with a sharp blade or sharp plastic scraper. If a metal blade is used in scraping, it may leave grey marks on the surface which an ordinary scouring pad will easily remove. Wash and rinse the surface with clean water.

Chemicals to Avoid

Avoid exposing your Crescent Quartz surface to any of the following:

  • Acetone, Lacquer, or paint thinner
  • Glue stripper, or any product containing trichloroethane or methylene chloride
  • Acidic or alkaline substances

Crescent Quartz surfaces can be permanently damaged by prolonged exposure to strong chemicals and solvents.

Handling the Heat

Crescent Quartz surfaces are designed and manufactured to withstand moderate heat, but it is not heat proof. We strongly recommend using trivets or hot plates to protect your surface from damage caused by sudden temperature changes, especially when using cooking units such as electric frying pans, crock pots, or roaster ovens. Do not expose the surface to open flames and avoid prolonged contact with very hot cooking appliances.

Cutting with Care

With a score of seven on the Mohs Hardness Scale, Crescent Quartz surfaces are highly resistant to scratch. However, to keep the surfaces in immaculate condition for years, always use a cutting board for food preparation. Never cut directly on a countertop surface.

No Sealer Required

Do not apply sealers or polishes to your Crescent Quartz surface. They are not necessary and over time can make your surface appear dull and/or inconsistent.
